PORTRAITS FROM THE LOU
Several neighborhoods of North St. Louis are undergoing transformational change - from the inside out. The change is alive because of the neighbors themselves, and courageous ‘people of peace’, who are leading the change through their vision of a stabilized, restored, growing community. The individuals featured here are just some of those people, engaged through LOVEtheLOU (www.lovethelou.com), an organization within the North City community, committed to sharing the work alongside them. All made possible through the power of God’s transformative work in their lives and throughout their community.
I am fortunate to be engaged in supporting this work, and allowed to help tell their story through these images. I partnered with Steve West, a friend and great photographer, to capture these images on-site.
The panel treatments at the bottom are part of a travelling large format ‘gallery’ supporting multiple screenings of a new short film, ‘Vision’. The film and the tour are designed to engage local communities and non-profit organizations in a new conversation about how to re-image the transformation of neighborhoods. these panels were made possible by Ted Twenter and Bryan Mocaby, who are giving their time and financial support to firther this work.
